Egas Moniz School of Health & Science (EM)

The Egas Moniz School of Health & Science (EM) is a reference health education institution in Portugal. Certified since 2010 according to ISO 9001:2008. EM is the instituting entity of the Egas Moniz University Institute and the Egas Moniz School of Health (Polytechnic), dedicated to the training of health professionals, but also assuming itself as a Modern Civic School of Health, strongly inserted in the local community through the provision of clinical care. As an academic institution, it develops pedagogical and scientific activity, with more than 400 highly qualified professors and participating in scientific research projects, developed in partnership with national and international institutions. EM simultaneously develops its pedagogical and research action with an impact on Public Health, following a One Health approach through collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary structures, namely the Center for Medical Genetics and Pediatric Nutrition, the Interdisciplinary Research Center (CiiEM), the Center for Electron Microscopy and Histopathology, the Office of Information and Victim Care, the Office of Forensic Psychology, the Applied Social Studies Group, the Laboratory of Forensic Sciences and Psychology, and the Laboratory of Applied Microbiology. EM has published more than 35 peer reviewed manuscripts on PD on topics such as protein interactions, monitoring technologies, community exercise programmes, clinical indicators, among others. Young Parkies Portugal (YP) is an association established in 2021 that informs, integrates and accompanies people with juvenile or early Parkinson’s. YP’s mission is to promote cooperation between diferent actors, under the motto “Together with Parkinson’s”, to create a community that improves lives. In order to provide safety, knowledge and motivation, YP has a multidisciplinary team of caregivers, doctors, researchers, therapists, nutritionists, jurists, among others, so that patients do not carry the weight of juvenile Parkinson’s alone. Although a recently established organizations, it counts already with remarcable altruistic contributions to PwP, including: 1) Parkie Talks, a series of monthly webtalks, with the participation of experts from different areas who reflect and debate on various topics of life with Parkinson’s. Challenges an open dialogue capable of clarifying doubts and sharing current knowledge and perspectives for the future. Parkie Talks are available on Youtube and also, in podcast format, on Spotify; 2) Parkie to Parkie, a meeting between PwP, so that they know each other and develop activities together; 3) Active Parkies, a biweekly exercise program to prevent falls, increase performance in the tasks of the daily living and well-being; and 4) Annual Bootcamp, a 2-day annual event open to people with Parkinson’s and their families including informative conferences, exercise, yoga, meditation, and nutrition classes, dance party, etc.. The outstanding content development skills nomenee YP as the leaders of WP2.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUT) is the largest university in Greece, with 11 Faculties organized in 40 Schools. Almost 73 930 under- and post- graduate students’ study at Aristotle University, the Teaching and Research Staff numbers about 2 000 people. AUT holds more than 146 International Scientific Agreements with Universities in U.S., Canada, Australia, the Near, Middle and Far East. Also, it has currently approximately 538 bilateral agreements with European Universities, and it has supported the implementation of TEMPUS, JEAN MONNET projects, etc. It also actively participates in several ERASMUS MUNDUS Action 1 & 2 consortia. AUT ranks first among Greek higher education institutions in terms of mobility. In addition, since 2015, Aristotle University has run an Erasmus+ ICM program in the framework of which 60 agreements have been signed with universities in 29 countries around the world. AUT participates in many HORIZON projects in diverse research areas. Ever mindful of rapid change and progress, AUT constantly update its strategy, policies, and everyday practices, in order to meet contemporary local and global demands. The University has been able to determine its strengths and weaknesses and adopt a holistic internationalization strategy. Two departments of AUT will be engaged in the MOVE ON UP project: 1) the School of Informatics and more especially its Software and Interactive Technologies Laboratory, ranked within the top 200 universities in the subject “Computer Science and Information Systems” according to a recent study conducted by the QS company; 2) The Department of Physical Education and Sports Science (DPESS). The mission of DPESS is to promote the science of physical education and sports, through academic and applied teaching and research, to provide graduates with the appropriate knowledge for their scientific and professional career; and to contribute to the awareness of the importance of physical education as a fundamental factor for improving quality of life. In its 26-years of operation, the DPESS of Thessaloniki has awarded the degree to more than 12000 graduates.

Omišalj-Njivice Gymnastics Club (GON) is dedicated to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for individuals of all age groups on the island of Krk. Their mission is to foster a sports community that embraces a healthy lifestyle and encourages active participation in sports across the lifespam. While GON currently does not hold a dedicated sports program for PwP, they have partnered with Parkinson and Us for the sole purpose of MOVE ON UP, an association from Rijeka, dedicated to the enhancement of the quality of life for PwP through unique programs and services. This partnership, underscores GON’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment that welcomes everyone, recognizing the transformative power of physical activity and sport. Both GON and Parkinson and Us envision a future where physical activity becomes a universal tool for promoting health and happiness, transcending age and health considerations. Furthermore, as a proud member of the Croatian Gymnastics Association, GON actively engages in seminars aimed at promoting innovative ways of integrating exercise in gymnastics with health for people of all ages. Through formal cooperation with the Rijeka Kinesiology Faculty and UHC Rijeka, GON facilitates meaningful connections between students and coaches, fostering mutual progress and research. This collaborative approach ensures that our commitment to promoting health and well-being extends beyond the confines of their gymnastics club to positively impact the wider community.

Università degli Studi "G. d'Annunzio" Chieti - Pescara

Università degli Studi “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti – Pescara (UdA) established in 1965 as a ‘Libera Università’, became state-owned in 1982. UdA comprises 14 Departments, 5 of which are organised under the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and 2 under the School of Economics, Business, Legal and Sociological Sciences. UdA offers 1st and 2nd cycle courses, PhD courses, and also post-graduate courses including: I and II level Master’s Programmes, Specialisation schools and Specialist training courses. It enrols 36.000 students.
Scientific research and Internationalization are of outmost importance at UdA. UdA has taken part, as both coordinator and partner in many national, European and international research and over 12 Erasmus+ projects, 3 of each as coordinators (see previous projects list attached). The main research activity and fields of the international expert Maurizio Bertollo and his team focuses on Physical Education, Human Movement Science and Sports Psychology. The key persons involved in the project are sport psychologists and sport scientists with a huge background in applied and research field. They are professors in the courses of psychology and sport science. Given the tremendous experience of UdA in Erasmus+ Sport, they will lead WP5 in the MOVE ON UP and together with the AUT will be a valuable member of the Project Core Team whose experience will surely benefit the project manager and the project steering committee.
